Minimum Quantity Lubrication Jet Noise: Passive Control

چکیده
Jet noise is a common problem in minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) technology. This should be given great attention because of its serious impacts on the physical and mental health operators. In this study, micro-grooved nozzle proposed based reduction concept biological micro-grooves. The flow field acoustic characteristics an original were investigated numerically to help better understand mechanism. reasons for generation effects length (L), width (W) depth (δ) micro-grooves analyzed. It was found that jet generated by large-scale vortex ring structure pressure fluctuations caused motion. overall sound level (OASPL) decreased with increases W δ, increased increase L. Among them, δ has greatest effect reduction. maximum achieved 6.66 dB, as verified OASPL test. Finally, mechanism discussed terms field, vorticity frequency characteristics. Micro-grooves can enhance mixing airflow inside accelerate process vortices breaking into smaller-scale vortices. also reduces (SPL) middle frequencies, well SPL high frequencies specific angles.

متن کاملMinimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) in Machining: Benefits and Drawbacks
Micro lubrication or also known as minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) serves as an alternative to flood cooling by reducing the volume of cutting fluid used in the machining process; but not without significant health concerns. Flood cooling is primarily used to cool and lubricate the cutting tool and work piece interface during machining process. The adverse health effects caused by the use of...
متن کاملModeling and Simulation of Nanofluid Minimum Quantity Lubrication Surface Grinding Thermal Stress
The model of surface grinding with a nanoparticle jet flow of MQL was established. The surface grinding thermal stress of three workpiece materials, namely, 45 Steel, 2Cr13, and nano-ZrO2 dental ceramic, were numerically simulated. Results show that dry grinding generates larger tensile stress, whereas MQL grinding generates larger compressive stress. The finished surface of workpiece produces ...
متن کاملAnalysis of Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) for Different Coating Tools during Turning of TC11 Titanium Alloy
The tool coating and cooling strategy are two key factors when machining difficult-to-cut materials such as titanium alloy. In this paper, diamond coating was deposited on a commercial carbide insert as an attempt to increase the machinability of TC11 alloy during the turning process. An uncoated carbide insert and a commercial Al₂O₃/TiAlN-coated tool were also tested as a comparison. Furthermo...
